The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) ended its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting with a resolution not to embark on another industrial action, following the payment of ‘half-salaries’ to members by the federal government. The union, however, condemned the act taken by the federal government to turn the university academics to casual workers by using the “pro-rata” payment scheme. Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has given reasons why the Federal Government may not pay the full salary of university lecturers for the eight months that the Academic Staff Union Of Universities (ASUU) was on strike.
